Email Template 5: Case Transfer to Another US Embassy

Subject: Request to Transfer Afghan SIV Case – [Your Case Number]

Dear NVC,

I am the principal applicant writing to request that my Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) case, which has been assigned the case number [insert your case number], be transferred from [insert current US embassy name] to [insert desired(new) US embassy name] for further processing.

As an Afghan SIV applicant, I am deeply concerned about the current situation in Afghanistan, and I believe that it would be in the best interest of my safety and well-being to have my case transferred to another embassy. I understand that the US government and US Embassy will not help me to travel, enter and provide accomodations in third-country for my US embassy interview or case processing. I also understand that if I request my case to be transferred to another US embassy, it means that I do not want or do not need the US government or Coordinator for Afghanistan Relocation Efforts(CARE) to relocate me from Afghanistan to another country for processing.

VERY IMPORTANT! Do not request case transfer to another US embassy if you want or need the CARE to relocate(evacuate) you from Afghanistan to another country for processing. Do not request case transfer to US Embassy Doha, Qatar. Case transfer request to Doha does not mean that CARE will take you to Qatar or give you flight priority. Do not request case transfer to another US embassy if you can not travel and stay in third country for your processing at your own expense. 

If you have already mistakenly transferred your case to US Embassy Doha but are still in Afghanistan, then contact the CARE at “CARETravelData@state.gov” to inform them that you are still in Afghanistan and want the CARE to relocate you from Afghanistan.


Note: These templates are just suggestions, and you can modify them to fit your specific situation, questions and concerns. Be sure to include the name of person writing email inquiry, the principal applicant name, principal applicant date of birth, NVC case number and provide any relevant information or documentation that can help the NVC process your case. Also, keep in mind that it may take some time to receive a response from the NVC due to the large amount of SIV applicants and case backlog. Please remain patient and wait for the NVC to respond. Do not keep sending multiple emails to NVC, again and again.
